More scrapbooking is what we did at my New Year's Retreat!! And, we did it with scrapbooking cheer!! With the help of my two friends, Julie and Lisa, everything went great!

New location, new ladies and an inhouse store to boot! I had 90 ladies come to this retreat and it was so fun. This is the largest retreat I have had! I will admit it, I was a bit nervous but everything went wonderfully! The Comfort Suites staff was great to work with and very accommodating with our needs. I met so many nice and fun ladies. I had lots of my regular ladies come too!

The Scrapbook Clearance Outlet provided us with lots of scrapbooking supplies and some unbeatable bargains! At the end of the retreat they were having deals we couldn't pass up. I had a few ladies tell me they had fun just shopping at the retreat! Dora and Cheryl did a great job and had a cute set up with all of their supplies.

CropChocolate.com is hosting an awesome 4 night scrapbook retreat! Starts Wednesday evening June 27th and ends Sunday morning July 1st. It will be held at the Heritage Center at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City.

All Inclusive = $299 (covers accomodations, food, classes, product, events, etc.)

Every few days I check my blog to see how many hits I have received. I have been averaging about 200 a week, which I think is incredible. So, I wonder, who is looking at my blog? I am thankful for all the new friends I have made through my scrapbook retreats and look forward to making many more new friends throughout the years. I feel very blessed to have a business that brings joy to so many ladies.

The barn was just a glimmer
in the artists' eye!

We had a wonderful time having our barn house in the Holiday Home show! Everyone enjoyed the amazing work of the conversion from a real barn to a beautiful barn house. Gary and Becky Baron are the creative artists who converted the barn 15 years ago. I invited both of them to come to the home show to visit and to take the honor of building the "master piece." They also brought over their "before and during construction" pictures for everyone to see.

We had about 200-300 people come through the home. Everyone enjoyed all the fun Christmas decorations and the antiques throughout the home. Some also enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate. It was such a pleasure seeing everyone having such a nice time and "oohing and awhing" throughout the home. There were even some "oohing" as they stepped into the shed outback that was converted into my scrapbook workshop. It too is filled with antiques and decorated to make you feel at home.

HOLIDAY HOME SHOW at the Red Rooster Scrapbook Barn - December 3rd

Everyone is welcome to attend the Brigham City Holiday Home Show on Saturday, December 3rd from 1 pm to 5 pm. This special annual event is sponsored by the Brigham City Civic Improvement Club. Tickets are $5.00 each (age 12 and up) and may be purchased at any of the homes/businesses in the show. Funds have been used throughout the years for various community projects. This year's proceeds will be going towards the purchase of needed furniture for the Brigham City Community/Senior Center, as well as two scholarships for graduating Box Elder High School Seniors.

Then . . . go to the home show and end your day with a great dinner at the famous Maddox restaurant!

50th Birthday Party!! Whew Whew!!

My husband gave me a surprise birthday party for my 50th birthday. It was such a surprise and I had so much fun. His band played, my daughter sang two songs and my son played the bass guitar. We had it at the Sherwood Hills Resort a few miles east of Brigham on your way to Logan. Thanks to all of my friends and family who came and made it a special day for me!

Sacramento Scrapbook Expo - So Much Fun!!

Last weekend I attended the Sacramento Scrapbook Expo and had a great time! I met my sister-in-law there and we scrapbooked for three days and did lots and lots of shopping. The products sold were wonderful and they had great make-n-takes. I also visited with my sisters and nephew and his family. They all live in the Sacramento area so I took the opportunity to visit with them and have a fun weekend scrapbooking.

During two of our crop days, the Expo had a different theme on each day. The second day we cropped they had a western theme and the third day was a 20's theme. If you have ever been to one of my retreats, you know I always have a different theme at my retreats. So, I wanted to participate in the Expo's theme too. During the crops they had lots of drawings and contests with prizes. On the western night they asked for anyone who could make an animal sound. I made a sound of a horse!! The winners were an elephant and a monkey. It was pretty funny.

Spooky Spooktacular Retreat!!

Aunt Helga was a special guest at my Spooktacular retreat and she had a treat and scrapbook goodie for everyone! All the ladies were giggling during her visit!! We had a fun Halloween mask contest. There were prizes for the scariest, funniest, ugliest, prettiest and best overall. Everyone who participated got a prize too! We also served lots of spooky treats -- Ghostly peanut butter ghookies, Brenda's batty chocolate chip cookies (the best ever!), Frankie's cupcakes and black widow pie!!

I had such a good time putting on this retreat and always look forward to the next one!

My next retreat will be a Happy Birthday Retreat held on April 13-14 at the beautiful Red Moose Lodge in Eden. This place is one of my most favorite places to have a retreat. It is located in the beautiful Ogden Valley and has a country/lodge type atmosphere with an outdoor jacuzzi. All the rooms are decorated very beautifully and are very spacious. We are going to be celebrating everyone's birthday. So come and join the fun!!

Had a Rough'n It Good Time!!

My Rough'n It Retreat was full of lots of good company, food, prizes, and of course, scrapbooking. Everyone loved the location and thought it was beautiful. We all brought our mattresses, pads, cots or foam and slept either inside or outside (upstairs) on the deck. We had "smores by the oven!" (We all decided we wanted to stay inside and have smores instead of going outside by the fire. You know, there has been bear sitings recently!!) We also had a watermelon eating contest and a water balloon toss contest. Everyone was a trooper and endured my fun games either by watching or participating! And, as with all my other fun activities I have at my retreats, everyone always gets a prize for just participating with more prizes for the winners!

I am already planning my Rough'n It Retreat for next summer. It will be a two nighter, so watch for the date!

Last weekend my friend, Julie, and I were invited to go on a two night retreat way up in the mountains past Kamas. The lady who put on the retreat started having retreats there a few years ago as a fundraiser for the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit for premature babies). She had twin babies that were born premature and found a great way to give back! We all had a wonderful time. As you can see, the location was just beautiful.


We all received a sweatshirt with eyelets embroidered on the front that said "it's all FUN & GAMES until someone loses an eyelet! They were so cute and warm. We needed them in the evenings in the cool air!

I want to thank everyone who came to my 2nd annual Customer Appreciation Party!! I enjoyed meeting lots of new ladies (and a few husbands!!). It was fun meeting some of the ladies who have been following my blog! Everyone enjoyed shopping for scrapbook supplies and kits I had marked at fabulous prices. They also received a scrapbook gift and almost everyone entered into my drawing for a CRICUT EXPRESSION and lots of other scrapbook supplies and gift baskets. I served some yummy refreshments and had a couple of make-n-take projects. I also had a few ladies come and scrapbook. I am already thinking about what I am going to do for my annual Customer Appreciation Party next year!

Grand Prize Winner!

My Summertime Scrapbook Retreat was great!! I had 20 WONDERFUL ladies attend and we all had so much fun. Thank you to everyone who attended! You made this retreat so much fun for me!! The accommodations and food were great and everyone enjoyed spending time together. Most of the ladies enjoyed the hot tub too! We had drawings and a raffle and gave away lots of prizes. Carol won the grand prize containing a basket full of scrapbook prizes. We also had a super fun "Summertime Hat Party" and served yummy fruit pizza with raspberry and pineapple sherbet with a passion fruit drink. Everyone received a pair of flip flops and some flip flop/summertime scrapbook supplies.

I want to give special thanks to Julie and Jenni for all the great help! Jenni, owner of Time Flutters By, donated a fun summertime page kit for everyone. Donna, the owner of Just Bee Scrap'n and Heartland Paper paper gave everyone the choice of a three month page club or card club membership. She also gave everyone a cute decorated bottle of water with a packet of Crystal Light with each one.

Thanks again ladies!! I enjoyed getting to know all of you!!

Happy Mother's Day!

I would like to wish everyone a happy Mother's Day! I am a proud mom of three teenage children -- two girls and one boy. They and my husband have made my day nice by starting out making me breakfast in bed. They also got me a nice necklace with a matching ring. Later on, we will be going to Brad's mom and dad's home and having dinner with his whole family which includes lots of siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews! My mom passed away about 24 years ago so we spend every Mother's Day with Brad's family!

I also wanted to share this scrapbook page I made of Brad's mom. I put it in a shadow box and I will give it to her for Mother's Day. Her name is Rosalie and is a wonderful lady. She is so kind and does so many nice things for our family. I love her so much and am very grateful to have her as a mother-in-law.

I hope you enjoy your day whether you are a mother of a child, a mother of a pet or just spending time with your mother!!

Nifty Fifties Retreat - Sock Hop Party!!

Wow, what a party!! We had such a great time. Great friends and lots of great music!! It was so fun watching everyone participate in all the activities we had going on. I got so caught up in all the fun we were having that I almost forgot to serve the root beer floats! Special thanks to all the ladies who took the time to put together their fifties outfits. There were seven poodles skirts (personally sewn just for the retreat), three pink ladies jackets with a special emblem put on each one, a cute bouffont hair style and a fifties style outfit with tennies, pony tail, scarf and cat glasses!! My friend Janeece provided us with lots of fun decorations. (Pardon the walls behind the decorations! The hotel was being remodeled.) My friend Julie put together a CD of awesome 50's music. We had a really fun time playing "Name that 50's Tune."

I also want to thank all the ladies who traveled some distance to come to my retreat. We had ladies from three different states - Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. One time I traveled four hours to go to a retreat. We had one lady travel five hours to come to this one!!

I love my family so much and they are so supportive of my scrapbooking hobby and my love for having scrapbook retreats! Thanks again to everyone for coming to my retreats. Fun at the Winter Wonderland Retreat

It is still cold outside, but we had plenty of warmth going on at the retreat. One of the fun games we played included scarves and gloves! The ladies had to wrap the scarves around their heads and necks, put on the gloves and then try to open a very tightly wrapped candy bar. Each one was timed with a roll of a dice and then they took turns. It was quite fun to watch and everyone (who wasn't in the game) took lots of pictures.

We only had one group of die hard scrapbookers (yeah, Janeen, Jean, Kristie and Julie) who came for the extra day of scrapbooking. They got lots done and we had a great time chatting. Everyone else came the next day.

We had some more new ladies attend this retreat and I think everyone had a good time. I always appreciate all my other scrapbookers who keep coming to my retreats. I offer a "punch card" to everyone who comes to my retreats. If you come to six retreats, you get the seventh one half price. I have four ladies who have filled their punch cards already! Thanks so much for your support.

My New Camera!

I am so excited about my new camera I got for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I told my husband I wanted a digital SLR camera. Well, not only did he get it for me but he also surprised me with a telephoto lens, tripod and three special effects lenses. It has been so much fun. My daughter just finished playing in the Box Elder High School play - Phantom of the Opera. After watching her perform in school plays over the past seven years, I finally was able to get some great close up pictures of her on stage - without a flash! Here are a few photos I have taken with my camera!

We had a nice time at the Turkey Gobble Retreat. This was the first retreat for a few ladies who attended. A couple of them learned lots on the cricuits provided. Now they are ready to use the ones they have at home! We played a couple of "Win it in a Minute" games. The ladies never know what kind of game I have ready for them to play! It is so much fun watching them! One of the favorite retreat games is the "Quick Draw" game! You tell me what your favorite thing is you like to scrapbook with and you might win a prize! Turkey Gobble Retreat - November 12-13 Logan

Gobble Gobble!! Are you ready for some turkey scrapbooking fun! Come to my next scrapbook retreat on November 12-13 at the Crystal Inn in Logan. The fun will start at 10:00 am on Friday and end on Saturday at 5:00. And, as always we will have fun with drawings, contests and lots of prizes. This retreat will have an added meal. I will be serving some turkey vittles for lunch on Saturday along with the hotel serving dinner on Friday and breakfast Saturday morning. The cost is $50 per person for four in a room, $65 per person for three in a room and $80 per person for three in a room. Hope you can come!!

Luau Retreat - Aloha!! So Fun!

We had lots of Hawaiian fun at my Luau retreat last weekend. We started out with some beach music, added some Hawaiian sounds, a little limbo rumba and ended with doing the chicken dance the hokie pokie and swing dance!! Some of the ladies volunteered for an activity and didn't know what they were getting into. I had them dress up with leis, grass hats, funny glasses, flowered bras and green skirts and were asked to do the hoola for everyone and then do their best hoola hooping! They each had their own fun and silly style! Then a few ladies volunteered to do the limbo. Go girls! We ended the party with Hawaiian banana splits, group pictures with the Hawaiian outfits on and then went back to scrapbooking! Throughout the retreat we had more fun games and contests! One of which they had to make some halloween sounds. We had the creeking door, the cratchity witch and the spooky ghost.

Rough'n It Retreat - Mantua Oct 1-2

Rough'n It Lodge!!

Even though we didn't have a lot of ladies come to this retreat, we really had a good time. We had lots of room to scrapbook. I was able to spread all of my scrapbook items out and get organized. I also put together scrapbook packets with pictures and embellishments so at my next retreat I will be ready to go with my layouts. Jean and Deanna traveled all the way from American Fork to come rough'n it with me and my friends Julie and Janeece. The food was great and we enjoyed our dessert by the campfire. I posted a picture of the Girl's Home lodge. Hopefully, maybe next year some of you may want to come to the next Rough'n It retreat!

SCRAPBOOK USA EXPO - Good Time!!

I had the opportunity to display my Red Rooster Scrapbook Barn information at the Scrapbook USA Expo this past weekend. I had a table set up with pictures of my barn house and scrapbook workshop along with information about my retreats. I gave away prizes throughout the Expo and then at the end of the Expo gave away a basket full of scrapbooking items, a free retreat and a card making party. I met so many ladies and enjoyed telling them about my business and my upcoming retreats. My friend Julie came out Saturday afternoon and helped me out.

The winner of the basket was Christina Pass of Vernal, Utah, the retreat was Darlene Baker of Centerville and Kara Nelson of Lehi won the card party.

I enjoyed myself so much that I have already signed up to have a table at the next Scrapbook USA Expo on March 25-26, 2010 in Sandy. I hope you come by and see me if I didn't get a chance to visit with you this past weekend.

Customer Appreciation Party - THANK YOU!

I had a great turnout for my first Customer Appreciation Party. We had lots of fun chatting, eating and making cards. Everyone enjoyed seeing my barn house and my scrapbook workshop! Here are before and after pictures of my workshop. I still need to trim my windows with white paint and then I will be done. I also posted pictures of some of the ladies (and man!) who attended my party.

The winner of the free scrapbook retreat is Lee Burningham of Salt Lake City. Lee was already signed up for my October 22-23 retreat so she was very happy.

Thanks again to everyone for supporting me and my retreats. I have had so much fun meeting everyone. I look forward to having many more!!

I want to give a special thanks to my good friend Julie Sealy. She helps me with all my retreats. I couldn't do it without her!

Spring Fling Scrapbook Retreat

I didn't think spring was ever going to come, but it finally did just in time for my Spring Fling Scrapbook Retreat. Even though we were inside, there were plenty of flowers everywhere . . . that is . . . on scrapbook layouts!!

For our layout contest the pages had to be either related to spring or have flowers on the pages. Our two winners were Julie and Kristy. Julie won first prize with her spring layout and Kristy won second place. She had lots of pretty flowers accenting her baby layout.

We also had our theme project contest. The ladies decorated flower pots. I always have so much fun doing this contest because it is fun to see the creativity put into the projects. We had four contestants and the winning flower pot was Jean's "cuss pot."

We did not have a grand prize for the raffle drawings. Instead I had about five different drawings with themed scrapbook prizes. So everyone was a grand winner!!

We did something a little different at this retreat. We had ditigal scrapbookers join us. My friend, Heidi with Heritage Makers, also wanted to have a retreat the same weekend so she suggested we join together. It was fun to see how layouts can be put together on the computer.

I want to thank everyone who has been coming to my retreats. We have had a lot of fun. I have enjoyed getting to know everyone. Quite a few of you have come to more than one of my retreats and I really appreciate it. Some of you have been to all four of my retreats!! I hope you have enjoyed yourselves as much as I have. I plan on having at least three retreats a year. . . winter, spring and the fall. I also may be planning a summer scrapbook retreat at my barn house. I will keep you posted!! Thanks again everyone!!

Card Making Party February 4th

I had my first card making party! It was fun to have the ladies over to socialize and make cards. We also had fruit pizza for dessert. Yumm, my favorite. There were six different cards to choose from to make -- 3 Valentine, 1 Mother's Day, 1 Wedding and 1 Birthday. I do most of the preparation of getting the cards together so it doesn't take too long to make them. My next card party will be March 18th. I will keep you posted with the details!

Snowman Retreat January 2010

Brrr, it was cold outside, but we kept warm inside scrapbooking and making snowmen! Aren't they adorable! (Double click on the photo to get a good look at each one. They are wonderful!) At the last retreat we had a pumpkin decorating contest and this time we had a snowman contest. Once again, the ladies impressed me by their creativity! It was a tough and close contest, but the winner of the contest was the Birt table. Good job ladies.

Got milk?! Friday evening we enjoyed yummy cookies with some cold, cold milk.

Have you ever tried to whistle immediately after eating four crackers? Well, this is what these ladies were trying to do. The first one who whistled was yes, our very own Brigham City's 2009 Business Person of the Year, Donna McCrae, with Just Bee Scrap'n. Hey, Donna, shall I forward this picture over to the Chamber!! It was a lot of fun. All the ladies were troopers and everyone received a prize who participated in the contest!

Our page layout contest winner was Trish. Her layout wasn't the traditional whole picture on a page with embellishments. She took her photos and cut them into tiny squares and then laid them out with about 1/8th of inch of space in between each square. She then added a whole picture to complete the page. It makes for a very unique and beautiful layout!

Once again we had our raffle! Our grand prize winner this time was Jenny! She was so excited to win the big basket of scrapbooking supplies.

We had some travelers again at this retreat. These ladies were from the Saratoga Springs area -- almost two hours away. What we will do and where we will travel to get some time away to scrapbook for two days! Welcome ladies, I hope you enjoyed yourselves and enjoyed traveling through the beautiful Sardine Canyon!

I want to thank my friend Julie for helping me out with the retreats. Crunch time happens first thing in the morning while putting out all the goodies for the scrapbookers. She has been a great help and good friend. Julie and I have been scrapbooking together for a few years now! We too love to get away for the weekend to scrapbook and enjoy all our new friends and fellow scrapbookers!

Christmas Boutiques

Last Christmas I participated in two Christmas boutiques. One was in Garland and the other one was in Brigham City. They were so much fun! Along with the gift baskets I put together, I had a variety of other items for sale. I made "Twilight" (movie) blocks which everyone (both young and old!) loved and had to have. Both boutiques had great attendance. It was a joy for me to watch everyone be in the spirit of Christmas and find that "just right gift" for someone special. I will be participating in another boutique on April 30 and May 1st in Garland. If you want to attend and see all the new fun gift baskets I will be putting together, give me a call! (435) 730-1797

Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas! The new year is coming upon us quickly and it is time to make some new year's resolutions. I don't normally make new year's resolutions (other than eat better and work out more), but this year I am making a resolution to scrapbook once a week for the whole day! As we all know, if we don't make time, it doesn't get done. We'll see if I am able to keep this resolution. I will keep you posted!!

I also wanted to post what happened with my "Twilight Retreat." Well, I had to cancel it. The Huntsville-Eden area had its electricity turned off for most of the day on Saturday due to some electrical rewiring. Also, the canyon from Ogden into the valley was closed for most of the day. I thought without heat and electricity I wasn't sure how comfortable everyone would be, so I canceled it. Everyone was very understanding of the situation. I still went and took my daughters and husband. We enjoyed the beautiful home and ate cold cereal for breakfast. The lighting wasn't too bad because the home had very large windows throughout which made scrapbooking not too bad. I was very disappointed because I found this perfect place to have a scrapbook party. Maybe I will have to try again next June when the next "Twilight" movie comes out!

Twilight - New Moon Retreat Nov 20-21 Huntsville, Utah

Are you ready to join me for some more scrapbooking fun! I thought what a great opportunity to celebrate the next Twilight saga movie! The location for the my next retreat will be in Huntsville, Utah. I rented a beautiful log home with plenty of room for scrapbooking and lots of light. We will be scrapbooking all day Friday and Saturday and then going to the New Moon movie Saturday evening in Ogden at the Newgate Mall. Friday evening we will have a New Moon party with some fun activities and make a Twilight craft. The cost is $75.00, which includes the movie ticket. I will be serving dinner and breakfast and we will have a potluck Saturday afternoon. I will also have Twilight - New Moon shirts available to order too! Let me know if you are ready for another fun scrapbook retreat!

Spooktacular Retreat Oct 23-24

We had lots of halloween fun going on at this retreat! Along with playing the witches hat game, we had a pumpkin decorating contest. As a group, each table decorated one pumpkin. I provided a few items for everyone to use along with anything else they wanted to add. It was so much fun watching everyone get so creative! We had Lady Witch, Mr. Mummy, Just Bee Spook'n and Penelope the Pumpkin. Mr. Mummy won the contest! The other table decided not to decorate a pumpkin and help judge. We also had another raffle with two grand prize scrapbooking baskets. And, yes, my friend Janeen won the grand prize again! If anyone needs any luck rubbed off from her onto you, just let me know and I will get you in touch with her! Congratulations to Pam for winning the other basket!

I also wanted to thank my friend Donna at Just Bee Scrap'n. She donated all the items in the scrapbook baskets that were raffled off. She and her worker bees (staff) also helped very much in letting fellow scrapbookers know about my retreats. Donna's store is on Main Street in Brigham City and she always has creative things going on! I also want to thank my friend Jean. She works with Pampered Chef and she too has donated items for our raffles.

Scraptastic Retreat! Oct 9-10 Crystal Inn

My first overnight retreat was scraptastic! (That is what one of the ladies wrote on her check!) We had a full house and everyone was so nice and fun to scrapbook with. I met some really nice ladies.

Our dinner was catered by Bert's Cafe in Brigham City and it was delicious. Thanks Cathy! We had lots of prizes and fun contests. We even had a bubble blowing contest! We raffled off items donated by Just Bee Scrap'n and Jean Bywater with Pamper Chef. I provided a few fun items along with the grand prize. The grand prize was a basket of scrapbooking supplies. My friend Janeen won the grand prize! Way to go Janeen! (She had already taken some of the prizes out of the basket before I took the picture.) I do think, however, she must be rigging the tickets because she also won the grand prize at another scrapbook fundraiser we were at!

Well, because this retreat filled up so fast, I planned another retreat for October 23-24 at the Crystal Inn in Logan. We plan on having just as much fun! We are going to have some spooky things going on. Hope you can make it!

Well, I finally created a blog and I have had so much fun designing it! I am so behind the times! My children are telling me I should be on facebook instead of making a blog.
